Darkness at Play is Anaïs' debut album, released on January 18, 2019, and follows her 2018 EP, Before Zero. Contributors on the album include Grammy-winning producer Om' Mas Keith and Anaïs' frequent collaborator and writer, Aston Rudi.

On the 13 track R&B-album, Anaïs touches on various subjects such as greed, power, and faith. Alongside the release of the album, Anaïs released a beautiful visual for the 9th track on the album, “Woman,” which features vocals from rapper Princess Nokia.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
